Dear Parent/Guardian UCAS week (25th – 29th June 2018) We will shortly be holding a UCAS week for all year 12 students. This will aim to give your son/daughter the opportunity to think about a range of issues around applying to university, from where to study, which course to pick and indeed whether university is the right pathway for them after they leave the Sixth Form. The week will involve a range of activities for your son/daughter to involve themselves in and crucially it will aim to deepen their knowledge of the UCAS process and what they need to consider when making their future choices. Tuesday 26th June Pledges & Futures Day: Workshop 1: Money management Workshop 2: How to write a successful personal statement Workshop 3: Logging onto UCAS and creating an account Workshop 4: How to select the right course/university for me Wednesday 27th June Drama company to present – 'To go or not to go to university?' Thursday 28th June Admissions tutor coming in from Cambridge University to do a workshop on 'Applying to Oxford/Cambridge'. Aimed at students who would feel this is relevant to them. Friday 29th June UCAS Exhibition at the University of Bedfordshire. Please note that spaces are limited so this will be a case of first come first served. Letters will be given out for any students interested. As the table above outlines, we are holding a parent information evening on Monday 25th June in the sixth form centre from 6-7pm. This evening with involve key information about the UCAS process in order to allow you as parents to better support your son or daughter as well as providing a chance to ask any questions regarding the UCAS process itself and university more widely. There will also be refreshments available during the evening. If you wish to attend the evening on Monday 25th June, please fill in the slip below and return to the Sixth Form centre.
